ABOUT CBT

BTI-logoBusiness and Technology Institute was founded in 1988 by Fernando Llerena and Gladys Llerena in the hopes that a community of students would appreciate a reasonable class size where practical learning was at the helm of instructional delivery.

In 2002, the College moved from COE accreditation to ACICS accreditation for the purpose of offering higher degrees in all programs, academic associate degrees, we changed our name to College Business and Technology. The new journey was full of a higher level of structure and hands on learning for both our students and employees. We hired our graduates and promoted them during the years to top level positions. We grew due to the dedication and commitment of our students and employees and their belief that they wanted to be part of an organization that did not believe in mediocrity. Somewhere they can be challenged.

CBT-second-logoIn 2005, the College expanded into our Flagler and Hialeah campuses and grew not only internally but started to brand themselves within the community as a strong trade college. In 2008, we opened our doors at the Cutler Bay campus and in 2010 at a West Kendall Campus location. These more recent locations would help in growing our Medical and Business programs.

In 2010, CBT Technology Institute was shortened and we started branding ourselves as CBT Technology Institute. This would make it easier for branding purposes due to the program offerings that were given at each location. The first branding campaign that was promoted was the "Dream Campaign" in which the message to follow your potential was the key message to our students.

CBT-your-dream-logoIn 2011 we offered our first Bachelor's Degree program in Business Administration. Then in April 2012 we were accredited for the Health Information Management Program at our Cutler Bay Campus by the Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

In 2013, CBT Technology Institute opened its Fifth Campus in the Miami Gardens Community.

CBT Technology Institute has enjoyed the quiet nature of our internal environment in which we grew from within and felt the stability of those closest to our legacy and history. Through the challenging times of our industry, personal growths, and learning curves we have been fortunate to still attempt to hold onto our core values. With that, we wanted to expand our brand to something more than just a student message, but a community message. We wanted to show that we too could Begin Again.

CBT-main-logoIn August of 2014, The Begin Belong Be More Campaign was launched to reinforce to our Students, our Colleagues, and our Community that there is no better way to Live Life's journey than to commit to developing routinely.

CBT Technology Institute wanted to reinforce in our students the need to really understand not only the importance of Beginning a new commitment, but Belonging to the action of their commitment. The hopes of CBT Technology Institute are that students use the environment to practice proper communication, work habits, and practical learning to help them achieve their professional goals.

Similarly, our own Teams must achieve the same if they are to align themselves with the Mission of the College and to forward support to our students and graduates.

Be More for your Family, Colleagues, and Community.

In December of 2016, ACICS loss of recognition by the US Department of Education, and CBT Technology Institute was given a deadline to seek a new accrediting agency. After much consideration of which accrediting body would best support our strategic initiatives, we felt that the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) would best match our Mission and Vision. In May of 2017, ACCSC accepted our initial application and we look forward to engage in the process to ensure stability and security for our teams and students that we have experienced these past 28 years.
